5 Weird Ways to Make Money in College

Let’s face it, staying on top of the bills can be a struggle in college. While it is possible to work part-time (or even full-time if you’re ambitious enough), it can be difficult to find a job with hours that will work with your school schedule and also help you to make enough money to pay for tuition, school materials, rent, and food–not to mention a social life! This list is a few ways I have found to be successful when looking to make some extra cash. So, let’s jump in!

  • 1. Deliver Food or Groceries

While it does require a car, this is a great way to make some money on the side! Some benefits of this one is that you can make it work around your own schedule, and you will get to discover some fun new places to eat around you. Instacart is set up so you can shop for other people’s groceries and get paid to do so. As for food delivery, UberEats and DoorDash are the best options that I have found thus far. DoorDash was also the easiest to get started with as well as the most steady in terms of income.

You can sign up for DoorDash here.

  • 2. Design and Sell T-Shirts Online

If you have a knack for creativity, this is definitely the one for you! And even if you’re not the best at art or design, you can still be successful by coming up with fun catch phrases to print on a t-shirt. The options are limitless for this one. CafePress and Zazzle are two of the most popular options for this one.

  • 3. Sell Your Body

Okay, it’s not what it sounds like–you can get paid to donate Plasma! If you donate twice a week for a whole month, you can end up making a good chunk of change. You can also walk away knowing you helped save lives! If you donate with BioLife Plasma, they even have a deal for new donors where you can earn $700 for donating 8 times! I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a good deal to me.

  • 4. Rent Your Car

This is a great option if you’re okay with someone taking your car out for a few hours. This works especially well if you have an amount of time you are just going to be at home studying or hanging out with some friends. If your car isn’t being used anyway, why not make some extra money instead of just letting it sit there catching rust ;)? A popular option for this one is through Turo. You can sign up easily and list your car to earn an average of $706 per month!

  • 5. Be Someone’s Friend for the Day

While I would only advise this one with some social distancing, you could still make it work by signing up on for Rent-a-Friend. Just as it sounds, you can get paid to be someone’s friend for the day. After all, it can get pretty lonely these days, and you get to charge your own rate for this one, so that’s a plus!

I hope this list was helpful! I would love to hear some other ways you have found to be successful in making extra money! Comment some ideas below!
